Shadowrun - Choppers (as printed) by SteamPoweredMikeJ Shadowrun - Choppers (as printed) by SteamPoweredMikeJ
From the Shadowrun book "Mob War", FASA, 1997.

This one breaks my heart. It's one of my all-time favorites, but when I dug out the original to scan it, I discovered that the duo-shade paper it was created on has become faded and blotchy. So this image here is reproduced from the original book, which was printed back when all the fine lines still showed up properly.

Aw man that sucks. :( Hope the rest of your artwork is turning out better!

Well, lucky for me I didn't use that paper very often. Only a handful of drawings have been lost to the ages.

I have to make more back-ups of my stuff as well. But, being text, it's not as big a concern as images.

Sad indeed :(

And a positive note, I have this book sitting 5 ft from me :)

Cool! I'm so glad people have hung onto their books... especially as they're getting harder and harder to find now.

Aww, that sucks. Back in the day when art was hand made ... it'S one of my favourites of yours, too, ad one that defined the game for me. I still remmeber your art very fondly, even if recently Shadowrun's art has picked up a great lot.

Also, it has been reused at least twice, so I think it's very popular with the folks at the respective publioshers too. :)

Wow, thanks for the kind words!

Do you happen to know what other books it appeared in? I never recieved copies (or additional paycheques).

I found it in Vice, page 40, but only in the German hardcover copy. I'll parse the PDFs sometime, too.

Paychecks could be tricky, as it technically was put together by now-defunct FanPro, but you can try and contact Pegasus Games, the current publisher. They probably are not even aware you were never compensated for this.

Interesting. To be honest though, it's probably not worth the time it would take to track 'em down and fight for it. I doubt I'd get more than a couple hundred bucks out of them.

It's funny though that companies assume now that everything artists do is bought out 100%, in perpetuity. A lot of my contracts covered only the initial book and 1 or 2 reprints / collections. Guess no one does THAT anymore : P

Well, you can contact Pegasus (Their licensing division might be the best place to start: www.pegasus.de/verlag/lizenzan... ), since Vice was their and not FanPro's work you might just circumvent the steaming legal mess left by FanPro's collapse. They have a reputation as being a fairly approachable publisher, but having never worked with them all I can do is rely on hearsay.

But probably, you're right. It still kinda sucks.
